Creating a subdomain

The topic of this article is supported in its entirety by our customer support department.

Subdomains can be created to set distinct, dependent areas of your site. For example mail.example.com is a subdomain of example.com. If you would like to create a subdomain for your site:

• Log into your cPanel through your customer manager at https://my.opensourcehost.com
• Click on “My Products” and then “Control Panel” across from your hosting package
• Once logged into your cPanel, click on the “Subdomains” icon underneath the “Domains” heading
• Specify the name of the subdomain
• A folder that acts as the document root is automatically created and is displayed in the box below
• Click the “Create” button

Important Note: On this screen you can also manage a redirect for the subdomain if you wish the subdomain to navigate to another URL rather than the document root created. To do this click on the “Manage Redirect” link and fill out the form that follows. You can also delete subdomains from this screen.
