There are numerous FTP-compatible clients for the Mac and PC; most will require some of the following information:
If you are publishing your primary site:
- Host Name/Host Address - Your domain name, yoursitedomain.com
- Username/Login - your VDS username which was assigned to you when your account was created
Important Note: If you are on a Name Based VDS or a name-based resold account, you will need to use the username in the format username%yoursitedomain.com when connecting.
- Password - your VDS password
- Web Directory/Remote Folder - /var/www/html
If you are publishing a Virtual Host:
- Host Name/Host Address - Your Virtual Host name
- Username/Login - If you created an FTP user for this virtual host, use the username that you have created; otherwise, use your VDS username.
- Password - The password for the FTP user that you created, or your VDS password
- Web Directory/Remote Folder - Specify the same directory that you listed in the “custom” field when adding your virtual host.
Important Note: If you are on a Name BaseVDS, or a name-based resold account, you will need to use the format username%yoursitedomain.com when connecting.
