Uploading your Website Content with FrontPage

The topic of this article is supported in its entirety by our customer support department.

Microsoft FrontPage is a simple web development tool that allows you to quickly design and publish a website, and is a great starting point for beginners.

FrontPage is different from many other publishing clients in the fact that it requires a server-side component to be enabled to allow you to publish your site. You will need to install this server-side component on your account before you can begin using FrontPage:

Activating the FrontPage Server Extensions

Log in to your VDS Manager by clicking the ‘Login to VDS Manager’ link from the Products page of the Customer Manager, which is located at https://my.opensourcehost.com.

Click Install & Manage on the left

Click the Web Development folder at the top

Click the FrontPage Extensions icon under Available ValueApps

Agree to the License

You will be prompted to enter the following:

  • Admin Username - Select a username. You will use this when publishing with FrontPage
  • Language - Select a language, or leave the default option selected
  • Character Set - Select a character encoding, or leave the default option selected
  • New Password - Select a password. You will use this when publishing with FrontPage
  • Retype Password - Re-enter the password you have just selected for verification

Important Note: Please write down the username and password that you have selected, as they cannot be retreived.
