Adding and Editing DNS Records

The topic of this article is supported in its entirety by our customer support department.

You can use the VDS Manager to add and edit the following types of DNS records:

  • A Records are address records which are used to point a sub domain, such as mail.yoursitedomain.com to a specific IP Address.
  • CNAME Records are used to create sub domains that point back to the main site (@) or to an address record that you’ve already created.
  • NS Records are 3rd level domains, test.yoursitedomain.com, which are handled by another hosting company. This type of record is rarely used.
  • MX Records are used if you have a secondary mail server hosted elsewhere.

Any time that the DNS Records are altered, it will take up to 48 for those changes to propagate throughout the internet, so be sure to double check your DNS Record settings before clicking Finish to prevent an even longer delay.
