Creating a New Email Alias

The topic of this article is supported in its entirety by our customer support department.

In some situations, it is convenient to setup an email address that is nothing more than an alias to another email account.  For example, you have the email address , and also want to receive emails sent to without setting up a completely new email account.  In this situation, you will need to create an email alias.

Log in to your VDS Manager by clicking the ‘Login to VDS Manager’ link from the Products page of the Customer Manager, which is located at https://my.opensourcehost.com.

Click the Aliases on the left to manage email aliases.

Click

In the pop-up window, click Email under Alias Type to indicate that you want mail to go to only one recipient

Enter the alias name.

Important Note: The alias name will be the portion before the @ in the alias address that you are creating.
Select the destination email address

If you are forwarding mail to an account not already on your server, enter the full email address in the Destination field.

If the account you want to send mail to already exists, you can simply select it from the Local Email drop-down; you do not need to edit the Destination field.

Once you have filled out this page, click to create your email account.

Beginning immediately, mail sent to the alias name you have selected @yoursitedomain.com will be forwarded to the destination mailbox or email address.
