Return to "Dreamweaver"If you are experiencing difficulties publishing with Dreamweaver, try the following:
Make sure that your domain name is propagated correctly and that you can actually access the site (you should at least see a temporary index page). If you do not see a temporary page or the site does not load at all, make sure that you have specified the correct nameservers with your domain registrar, or wait a few hours.
Verify that the remote directory is correct; in most cases, this should be /var/www/html/
Verify correct username and password; you can update your password for your VDS account inside of the customer manager, and for virtual hosts inside of the VDS manager.
Important Note: If you are on a Name-Based VDS, or a name-based resold account, you will need to use the username in the format username%yoursitedomain.com when connecting.Disable any firewall software you have running (Norton Internet Security, ZoneAlarm, Windows XP Service Pack 2 Firewall, McAfee Internet Security, etc) to see if they are causing connection problems.
Change the Passive FTP setting to the opposite of what it is set at (if enabled, then disable Passive FTP) to insure compatibility with any firewall or router you may have installed on your network.
