The Gallery ValueApp supports a variety of image formats, allowing you to upload images directly from your computer and have them displayed on your website immediately. The Gallery ValueApp provides a variety of methods for uploading images, all of which are accessible from the “Add Items” link on the left side of the Gallery at http://yoursitedomain.com/gallery/. Be sure that you have logged in before attempting to upload images.

From Web Browser
If you would like to upload images directly from your web browser software, click on Add Items on the left side of the Gallery page once you have logged in, then click on From Web Browser near the top of the screen. This page allows you to select multiple files from your computer and upload them directly; simply click the “Browse...” button and select an image, then type a comment that will be displayed along side the image. Be sure that you do not attempt to upload more than 4 megabytes of images at one time, as some web browsers cannot properly process files this large and could unexpectedly quit.

From Local Server
If you have already uploaded files to your VDS Web Hosting account using FTP software and would like to import them into your photo gallery, you can do so by clicking on Add Items on the left side of the Gallery page, then click From Local Server at the top. Enter the full path to the files on the server that you would like to upload, then click Find Files. For example, if you created a new folder in the root of your VDS account called “temporary” and uploaded your images to that folder using FTP, you would enter /temporary and click on Find Files. The Find Files function will display the contents of the directory that you have selected; now simply check the box next to the images that you would like to import and click on Add Files. Once you have added the files to the gallery, you can delete the files that you uploaded with FTP if you wish.

From Web Page
If you wish to import images from another website or gallery, you can click on Add Items on the left and then From Web Page inside of the Gallery admin area. This function allows you to enter the full URL to any website and have the images from the site automatically imported into your gallery. Simply enter the full URL to an image or website into the URL field and click on Find Files to list the files to be imported. Check the boxes next to the image files that you wish to have imported, then click Add Files at the bottom and the images will be imported.

Directly from Windows XP
If you use Windows XP, you can download a small file to your computer that allows you to select image in your computers Explorer file manager, then click on a button to have the images automatically uploaded directly to your gallery. Using this feature requires that you are running Windows XP and are using the “Task View” inside of Explorer.

To be sure that you are in “Task View” mode, click on the My Computer icon on your desktop, then click the Tools menu followed by Folder Options. The first choice on the View tab, “Show common tasks in folders” should be selected.

To install support for uploading to your gallery, click on Add Items on the left side of the gallery pages, then click on the Windows XP tab near the top. Right-click on the link that says “Download [install_registry.reg]” and click on “Save Target As...” in your browser. Be sure that the name of the file to download to your computer is listed as “install_registry.reg” and click on OK to download the settings file to your computer. Close your web browser and locate the file on your local computer, then double click on the file. You will be prompted to merge the settings with your computer; simply click on Yes, then OK on the confirmation dialog. Your computer is now configured to allow uploading directly from Windows XP.

To upload files directly from Windows XP, use the My Computer icon to navigate to a folder full of the images that you would like to upload. Click on “Publish this folder to the Web” on the left side bar under the File and Folder Tasks heading. A wizard will appear; click Next, then use the check boxes to select the image files that you would like to upload to your gallery. Once you have selected the images that you wish to upload, click on Next again and select the “Gallery at yoursitedomain.com” option from the list of service providers to publish to. Once you click Next, you may be prompted to enter the username and password for your photo gallery. Once you have logged in, select the album that you would like to publish your images to and click on Next through the remaining wizard steps. The images will be automatically uploaded, and once they have been uploaded your gallery will be displayed.
