Customizing your Customer Interface

The topic of this article is not supported by our customer support department, however for your convenience we are providing this material to assist you in troubleshooting potential issues related to this topic.

This reseller program allows you to customize the look, licenses, and messages in the VDS Managers that are used by your customers.

Important Note: These changes are only visible if you login as a customer would, by going to their VDS Manager URL and logging in with their username and password. Your administrative privileges prevent you from viewing modifications by logging into the VDS Manager from your Reseller Manager

Creating a New Brand

Each of your service packages can have its own look, licenses, and/or messages.  After you have created a brand for one service package, you can copy the branding files to another to save time.
Log in to your Reseller Manager by clicking the ‘Login to Reseller Manager’ link from the Products page of the Customer Manager, which is located at https://my.opensourcehost.com.

Click Branding

Click Account Branding

Select the service package for which you want to create the new brand.

Select the “Edit the service package branding files” radio button
Click Next.

The elements which can be edited are now displayed.

Important Note: In the “Number of lines to show:” dropdown menu, select “100” to view all options that can be edited.

Some of the more important elements are:

  • License - This is the license that the customer must agree to before they can loginto their VDS Manager for the first time.
  • Company logo - This is the image that appears in the upper right-hand corner of your customers’ VDS Managers.
  • More Info - This is the text that appears in the More Info box in your customers’ VDS Managers.

  • New Features - This is the text that appears in the New Features box in your customers’ VDS Managers.
  • New Features Label - This allows you to change the title of the New Features box in your customers’ VDS Managers to something else.

Click on the item you wish to customize.

On the next page, you will see a description of that item.

If you have not already done so, create a file on your local computer with the contents you would like to change. Make sure the file type is the same.

  • Text - Create a simple text file.

Important Note: For example, if you want to change the More Info title to Announcements, create a file that just has the word Announcements in it and save it with the extension .txt.

  • HTML - Create a file with the content and save it with the extension .html. You can use HTML in these files.
  • Image - Create an image file with the same dimensions as the file you wish to replace.

Viewing your Customization Changes

When you click on the wrench next to a customer in the Accounts section you are taken directly to their VDS Manager. However, you are logged in with administrative privileges, so you will not see any branding changes you have previously made.
Instead, you will need to open a new window, go to the customer’s VDS Manager login screen (http://example.com/manager/) and login as if you are the customer. This will allow you to see the branding changes as the customer would.
