Activating the ASP Programming Language

The topic of this article is supported in its entirety by our customer support department.

Microsoft’s Active Server Pages programming language has been made available on Linux-based servers, like the one in use by OpenSourceHost, through the use of a software package called Sun Java System Active Server Pages Server (formerly ChiliSoft ASP). This package allows many ASP programs to function on a Linux-based server, but some complex applications may require additional functions of ASP which are not provided by the Sun Java System Active Server Pages edition of ASP. Programs written in the ASP .NET language will not function in a Linux-based server at this time.

OpenSourceHost has provided this package to assist users in running ASP programs; it is ideal if you are writing a new program that it be written in a language that is specifically developed for Linux, such as PHP.
