Dreamweaver is an extremely powerful professional publishing software available from Macromedia, http://www.macromedia.com

Open Dreamweaver MX

Click on Site

Choose New Site

Click on the Advanced Tab

Enter the following Local Info:

• Site Name - Enter a phrase that describes your site
• Local Root Folder - Dreamweaver will choose a local root folder for you
• HTTP Address - Enter your domain name (ie, yoursitedomain.com)

Click on Remote Info and Enter the following information:

• Access - Select FTP
• FTP Host - Enter your domain name

Important Note: Do not include the http:// prefix; it is not necessary to include the www.
Important Note: If your domain name has not propagated, use your IP address instead of your domain name

• Host Directory - Enter public_html/

• Login - Enter your FTP username

• Password - Enter your FTP password

Check the Automatically upload files to the server on save option.

Click OK

Click on the Connect to Remote Site button. Under the Remote View you will see a list of files in your html folder.

To upload files:

• Select the local view option from the site drop down box
• Select the files that need to be uploaded
• Click the PUT button (up arrow)

Dreamweaver MX 2004

Open Dreamweaver MX 2004

Click on Site

Choose Manage Sites

Click New

Choose Site

Click on the Advanced Tab and enter the following Local Info:

• Site Name - Enter a phrase that describes your site
• Local Root Folder - Dreamweaver will choose a local root folder for you
• HTTP Address - Enter your domain name (ie, yoursitedomain.com)

Click on Remote Info and enter the following information:

• Access - Select FTP
• FTP Host - Enter your domain name

Important Note: If your domain name has not propagated, you can use the IP address of your hosting account

• Host Directory - Enter public_html/

• Login - Enter your FTP username

• Password - Enter your FTP password

Click Done in the Manage Sites Window

Open your website

Click Site

Choose Put

Dreamweaver will now upload your files to the server so that they are immediately viewable in a web browser.
