Letting Your Domain Name Expire

The topic of this article is supported in its entirety by our customer support department.

OpenSourceHost protects your domain name by automatically adding 1 year of registration time before your domain name expires. This prevents other companies from buying the domain name, and prevents your website from going offline.

If you no longer wish to use your domain name, you can set the domain name to expire through your Customer Manager. By doing so, your domain name will not be automatically renewed and any other company or individual will be able to register the domain name once the registration expires, so please do not allow a domain name to expire unless you know you will not need it again.

Log in to the Customer Manager at https://my.opensourcehost.com, then click on the Products tab at the top if you are not automatically redirected to your primary product details page.

Click the ‘View Details’ link beside the domain name you are working with.

From the domain name details page, click the ‘Change Renewal Options’ link.

Select ‘Set to Let Expire’ from the pop-up dialog, then click

Click to finalize the process of letting the domain expire.

If you would like to re-enable the automatic renewal of your domain after selecting to let it expire, simply select the ‘Set to Auto Renewal’ option inside of the ‘Change Renewal Options’ dialog.
