Changing the Nameservers for your Domain

The topic of this article is supported in its entirety by our customer support department.

Purchasing a domain name reserves the use of that name for you, and prevents anyone else from using the name during the period that you have registered the name for. When you purchase a domain name, you must point the name to nameservers; these nameservers then specify exactly where on the internet your website resides.

If you purchase a domain name from OpenSourceHost, your nameservers are already pointed to our network so no changes are needed.

If you wish to change the nameservers for your domain name, you can do so inside of the Customer Manager.

Log in to the Customer Manager at https://my.opensourcehost.com, then click on the Products tab at the top if you are not automatically redirected to your primary product details page.

Click the ‘View Details’ link beside the domain name you are working with.

Click on the Update Nameservers icon for the domain that you wish to modify.

Enter the updated nameserver information that you were given by your new hosting provider.

Important Note: You must have at least two nameservers for your domain name.
If you would like to point your domain back to the OpenSourceHost network in the future, simply update your nameservers again to the ones that we have assigned for you.

OpenSourceHost’s Nameservers are:

Primary Nameserver

ns1.myhostcenter.com
64.6.240.120

Secondary Nameserver

ns2.myhostcenter.com
64.6.240.130
